LOX-index® Test for Stroke & Heart Attack Risk
LOX-index® Test: Future Stroke & Heart Attack Risk Assessment
Are you concerned about your future health, even with normal check-up results? Hamada Hospital offers the LOX-index® test, a simple blood test to evaluate your future risk of developing a cerebral infarction (stroke) or myocardial infarction (heart attack). By understanding your risk for arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) before symptoms appear, you can take proactive steps to improve your lifestyle and protect your long-term health. This test can be taken on its own or as an option with a comprehensive health check-up. The fee is ¥13,200 (tax included).
Who Should Consider the LOX-index® Test?
- Individuals with a family history of stroke or heart attack.
- Those diagnosed with or at risk for high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, or diabetes.
- Anyone aged 40 or over.
- Individuals who are overweight, concerned about metabolic syndrome, or have a history of smoking.
How the LOX-index® Test Works
- Measures two key substances directly involved in the early stages of arteriosclerosis: modified LDL (oxidized bad cholesterol) and the LOX-1 receptor.
- The test involves a simple blood draw (approx. 4ml) with no fasting required.
- Provides a comprehensive risk assessment for the next 10 years based on scientific data from a large-scale Japanese study.
- You will receive a detailed, easy-to-understand report by mail in about 3 weeks, including personalized lifestyle advice.
